What to see in Brussels

The Lower Town:

The Lower Town is the old heart of Brussels, dominated by the magnificent Grand Place, surrounded by a series of roads full of Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance and Flemish buildings. The entire area is served by tram and metro, but the best way to appreciate the narrow cobbled lanes is on foot.

The Upper Town:

This area once corresponded to the residential district of the Brussels’ aristocracy and governors. Today one can still admire the elegance of the Place Royal, the Parc de Brussels and the splendid boulevard which connect the city centre with the Parc du Cinquantenaire.
The main attractions of the area today consist in the numerous museums, the gothic churches and the Modern Art districts, like the Quartier Européen and Parliament District. The Upper Town is regularly served by public transports. The main underground stops are Parc, Porte de Namur, Shuman and Maelbeek.
